4th of July Weekend Style, 2016

Are you still deciding on what to wear for the 4th of July weekend?  The long holiday weekend is around the corner, so here are some of my suggestions for outfits, accessories, and beauty products.

Off-shoulder design is one of the key items for this Summer.   A dress like this A.L.C. Bolen is perfect for a hot summer day!

Sheer Panel Dresses

It seems like a recent trend is the increasing popularity of dresses that have a sheer panel.

Last season I was shopping for a new dress on the Saks web site.  I noticed an interesting Alice + Olivia’s fit and flare long dress with multiple sheer lace panels.  It came only in maroon.

I really liked it and so I bought it.

When I got the dress, to be honest, I wasn’t really sure on what type of occasions I could wear it to.  I was surprised to find that I was able to wear the dress at different events; Sinatra restaurant in Las Vegas and Saison restaurant in San Francisco.

While shopping online recently I noticed that many brands have dresses with sheer panels.  To update your closet wardrobe for Spring, you might want to check out this style!

Below are some of my suggestions.

Manolo Blahnik Chaos Cuff Ankle Sandal in Purple Glitter

Manolo Blahnik has many signature pair of heels. One of them that has often been spotted on many celebrities (i.e. Pop Star, Rhianne) is the Chaos Cuff Ankle Sandal.

Manolo Blahnik’s Chaos Cuff Ankle Sandal comes in various colors (i.e. black, red, and blue) and in various materials (i.e. patent leather, suede, and snakeskin). The design of the stiletto is surprisingly light and comfortable to walk for a short period of time.

For my recent New Year’s Eve trip to Las Vegas I bought a pair of the Manolo Blahnik’s Chaos Cuff Ankle Sandal in purple glitter.  I wore it with an Alice + Olivia’s McKee Sequined Jersey Dress on the New Year’s Eve.  A neutral black sandal normally would work well with an embellished and sparkling dress, but I think the glittering purple Manolo Blahnik Chaos Cuff Sandal works the best for such special occasion!

If you haven’t tried Manolo Blahnik’s Chaos Cuff Sandal, you might want to consider getting it for the upcoming Spring season!

New Year’s Eve Celebration in Las Vegas

I’ve been to Vegas many times, but never during the New Year’s Eve. To celebrate the New Year’s Eve for 2016, my friend and I went to Vegas! This Vegas trip is unlike most of the trips I’ve had to Vegas. There were no set plans. My friend and I wanted to take it easy and play everything by ear.

Happy New Year!

My friends and I stayed at the Aria Hotel. Aria Hotel is one of my favorite hotels in Las Vegas. (Their Sky Suite is one of my top three choices on the Strip, after Wynn/Encore Tower Suites and Skyloft at MGM Grand.) There are many nice restaurants in the Aria Hotel. I feel like I can eat different cuisines without having to step out of the hotel property. Aria Hotel Lobby Shopping The Vegas Strip was crowded with people around the New Year’s Eve period. Most of the retail stores (such as the ones in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace) were packed every day, especially on New Year’s Eve day. One might wonder why people want to shop during the busiest season after Christmas. The answer is simple, there were sales everywhere. The discounts ranged between 30% to 60%. For example, Salvatore Ferragamo offered a 30% discount, Christian Louboutin offered 40%, and Red Valentino offered 60% discount, etc. It’s hard to say “No” when pretty things are on sale! If you don’t have the actual boutique store in your resident state, you can avoid the tax by asking them to ship to your home. Some retail stores might charge you shipping cost, but most of the time the amount you saved from paying the tax exceeds the shipping charges. Aria Hotel in Las Vegas Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden Bellagio is one of my favorite hotels. Their Conservatory & Botanical Garden attracts a lot of people throughout the year. For the 2015 holiday season, Bellagio displayed a Christmas theme with a huge Christmas tree, polar bears, penguins, and snow globes, etc. I noticed the Conservatory & Botanical Garden was more crowded than usual. It was hard to take a picture of the display without running into someone with a selfie stick! Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden Eating in the Fancy Restaurants One thing I always look forward to is eating at the nice restaurants in the hotels in Vegas. I know that off the Strip there are many special restaurants that have lower prices, but the experience wouldn’t be the same as in the nice hotels. My all-time top ten restaurants on the Strip include Sinatra at Encore Hotel, Prime Steak and Michael Mina at Bellagio, Joel Robuchon at MGM Grand. A new favorite restaurant is also by Michael Mina, called Bardot Brasserie (French Cuisine), inside of the Aria Hotel. I had dinner there in September 2015 and liked it a lot. It’s the only restaurant that offers brunch in the Aria Hotel, but it only serves brunch on the weekends. In Front of Bardot Brasserie Restaurant On New Year’s Eve, my friends and I had dinner at Hakkasan in the MGM Grand Hotel. We had a multiple course dinner with wine paring. It was a great way to end Year 2015. To sum up, spending the New Year’s Eve in Vegas is fun, even if you are not into gambling or partying. There are plenty of things to do!

Yves Salomon Ombre Fur Asymmetric Vest in Navy

Before the Thanksgiving Holiday, a friend of mine told me about a special promotion that was going on at the Intermix  store.  Intermix is a fashion retailer sells trendy items from various brands.  They had a “buy three full-price items for 30% discount” promotion before the holiday.  I couldn’t resist the temptation, so I gave in.

One of the items I bought during the promotion period was Yves Salomon Ombre Fur Asymmetric Vest in Navy.  The color is very dark; it looks almost like black.  And the texture of the vest is so soft.  It was surprisingly warmer than I expected.

This Yves Salomon Ombre Fur Asymmetric Vest is very versatile and classic.  I can wear it with a long sleeve knit t-shirt, a pair of skinny jeans, and high heel pump.  Or I can wear it with a long turtleneck sweater, legging, and a pair of stylish boots.

No matter which clothing items I go with this asymmetric vest, I know it will look great with my favorite red Louis Vuitton Alma PM handbag.

Christopher Fischer Funnel Neck Cashmere Sweater

I am a big fan of cashmere sweaters.  I recently shopped at the Intermix store and got the Christopher Fischer Funnel Neck Cashmere Sweater in beige/khaki color.

I like the texture and the design of this sweater.  It feels extremely soft, and keeps me warm and cozy.

I’ve been wearing it with a pair of True Religion skinny jeans and Frye boots for a casual apparel look.  This cashmere sweater will also looks great with a dark mini skirt for a dressier style.

Christian Louboutin Private Patent Leather Peep-Toe Slingback Pumps

Red is one of my all-time favorite colors, especially for clothing and shoes.  When I saw the Private Patent Leather Peep-toe Slingback Pumps by Christian Louboutin in red, I knew I had to get it.

A simple way to wear red shoes is to pair them with black dresses.  Alice + Olivia has a cute Inara Embellished Dress in black with golden beads and sequins.  The gold embellishment goes well with the red stiletto! Alice + Olivia Inara Embellished Dress

A Perfectly Fitted Gucci Pair of Sunglasses is more Personal than I Thought

Do you have a sunglasses fetish? I can’t entirely claim that I do, but throughout the past years I’ve collect a handful of nice sunglasses I use on sunny days.

Finding a perfectly fitted pair of sunglasses for me is never easy. I could browse through stores an entire day and still can’t find one I really like. Last year, in Las Vegas, I found one that I wanted in the Gucci boutique. This pair of Gucci sunglasses was my immediate pick after I tried on a couple in the Gucci store. Not only because it looked good on me, I was also fond of its styling with a small Gucci logo and ribbon on the frame.

Gucci Sunglasses

Another reason I like this pair of Gucci sunglasses is because it’s really light. I brought it to my four Las Vegas trips this year!

For my recent trip to the sunny California, I brought this favorite pair of Gucci sunglasses with me. While I was at the mall with my family, we visited the Barnes & Noble bookstore. I walked into the store wearing my Gucci sunglasses, but somehow lost it before I walked out of the store.

I must dropped it somewhere between the café and kid’s books section inside of the bookstore. After searching the store multiple times and finding nothing, I went to check with the front desk.

The girl who was working at the front desk asked me to describe the sunglasses. As soon as I mentioned “Gucci”, she said, “Oh, probably no one will turn it in”. My heart dropped, because she’s probably right. I’d never see that particular pair of sunglasses of mine ever again. I left my contact information with them and called them today. But there’s still no sign of my sunglasses.

My four-year old niece always looks at things in bright ways. After we walked out of the bookstore, she cheerfully said, “Let’s go buy a new pair”! Hours later I found a new pair of Dior’s special edition sunglasses with Swarovski crystals on the temples (Dior Mystere Sunglasses) at the Dior boutique at the South Coast Plaza mall.

Normally buying a new accessory, especially when it’s labeled as “special edition”, would make me feel very good, but somehow I don’t feel as excited as I could have been. Part of me feels bad that I lost something I still really like. (If only I was paying more attention while I was in the bookstore!)

Now I can image how Carrie Bradshaw (a character in the “Sex and City” show) felt when she lost her brand new Manolo Blahnik shoes at a friend’s baby shower! At least I had my Gucci sunglasses for 8 months. Carrie had to borrow other people’s shoes in order to walk home, but I have my new Dior to accompany me home!

Roger Vivier Belle Vivier Embellished Satin Ballerinas

Roger Vivier is a designer who is often called the Faberge of footwear. Vivier shoes have been worn by Ava Gardner, the Beatles, and by Queen Elizabeth for her coronation. In other words, Vivier is a classic designer. The signature style of Vivier shoes is a large toe buckle. This feature clearly distinguishes Vivier from other designers.

VivierShoes

I recently bought a pair of Vivier embellished satin ballerinas. They were black with sparkly crystal toes and toe-buckle. I think they’d be a perfect match with many styles of dresses. In particular, I can see this pair of Viviers match with a black ruffled, short dress for day or evening event.

The buckle on my Vivier’s is large but a bit subtle because the buckle blends in with the crystals on the toe cap. This makes the Vivier’s a bit different from most other shoes that feature a large buckle.

VivierToeCaps

The ballerina style is very comfortable, and especially nice for events where you might have to be on your feet for several hours.

I’d say that Roger Vivier satin with crystal style is quite close to Manolo shoes with a similar motif. But Vivier high heels shoes tend to be more expensive than Manolo. But Vivier flats are just a bit more expensive than similar Manolo flats.

If you’re not familiar with Roger Vivier shoes, you should check them out! (Available at Mytherasa.com)

Dolce & Gabbana Polka Dot Floral Textured Leather Shoulder Bag

Are you a big fan of polka dots? If you love polka dots as much as I do, you are in luck. There are many clothing items and accessories with polka dots for Spring 2015.

When it comes to polka dots, I usually prefer them on cloth (such as a blouse or a dress) or accessories (such as scarves or jewelry). But this season Dolce & Gabbana launched the Polka Dot Floral Textured Leather should bag. This totally caught my attention when I shopped recently at the Saks Fifth Avenue in Las Vegas.

Dolce & Gabbana’s Polka Dot Floral Textured Leader shoulder bag is not  just an ordinary handbag with polka dots. I love the prints and the mini-trunk-like design. The black dots over the red carnations on the white background leather makes it a classic and stylish bag for Spring.

I think it would look great to pair this bag with strappy leather sandals, such as Manolo Blahnik’s Beaded Leather Sandals. The red stone beads on the shoes will complement the red carnations perfectly.

If you are looking for a unique bag to add to you Spring wardrobe, this Dolce & Gabbana Polka Dot Floral Textured Leader should bag is the ideal one!
