No Such Thing as Too Many Lipsticks Products

Beauty product brands are constantly rolling out new items each season. And my obsessions for beauty products also have changed from time to time.

In terms of the lip beauty products, I used to be obsessed with lip glosses in light pink and fuchsia colors. Now, I am addicted to lipsticks in assorted shades, especially including bright reds.

I used to prefer lip glosses over lipsticks because I liked the texture of the lip glosses and the subtle shine effects they have on my lips. But during the recent year, I expanded my lip color choices and feel more comfortable wearing bright red lip products. Many of my favorite beauty brands now have released lipsticks and liquid lip products that are sheer in texture and full of color pigments. Some of these lip products also have some shinning elements like lip glosses. And some of those lip products can stay on lips and last throughout a meal.

My current favorite picks of the lip color products are: Dior’s Addict Lacquer Stick, Dior’s Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain, Yves Saint Laurent’s Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain, Yves Saint Laurent’s Volupté Tint-in-Balm, and Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Lips Liquid Lipstick.

When I am fond of a particular lip product, I like to get it in several colors, such as light pink, fuchsia, and red. It’s always fun to decide which lip color product I want to put on, based on what I wear and what mood I am in. Sometimes I’d put on one product on my way out and bring a different one for touch-up during the day.

In my opinion, there’s no such thing as having too many lip color products! This is especially true when each of my favorite beauty brand continues to roll out new kind of lip beauty products each season. If there’s any beauty products I allow myself to indulge in, it would be the lip beauty products.

I don’t usually put any foundation and eye shadows on my face on daily basis, but I love to put on lipsticks when I am out and about. If I absolutely have to, I might put on some concealer around my eye area (to cover the dark circles) and around my mouth to enhance the lip color. And my go-to cover-up product is Yves Saint Touche Éclat Radiant Touch.

P.S.The Yves Saint Touche Éclat Radiant Touch is a multi-purpose beauty product. You can use it on the bridge of your nose, the brow bone, forehead, and more. If I can only have two makeup products for the rest of my like, this would be it!

5 Things to Try This Month – February 2018

February is one of my favorite months, because it’s the month many of my dear friends and I were born. I will celebrate the special days with my friends and travel to Mcminnville, Oregon, for wine tasting, and to Palm Springs, CA, for vacation.

Below are some of the things I will be doing this month.

I’ve been using Dior’s Addict Lip Glow Color Reviving Lip Balm in both Pink/Glow and Lilac/Glow colors for years. This Dior lip balm is designed to moisturize and enhance our lips’ nature color. I am really glad that Dior is releasing new colors – Raspberry/Glow, Pink/Holographic, Purple/Holographic, Matte Pink/Matte, Raspberry/Matte. I plan to get this Dior’s Addict Lip Glow Color Reviving Lip Balm in both Raspberry/Glow and Pink/Holographic!

Something Red for February

This year’s Lunar New Year falls in February. Red is the lucky color for Chinese and it’s one of my favorite colors too. To celebrate for the holiday month, I will switch my monthly gel nail color from last month’s pink to red.

New Job is the Best Birthday Gift

I am starting a new job in February. It’s a senior program manager position for an Artificial Intelligence training organization. I am fascinated with the role Artificial Intelligence technology plays in our current world and I am glad I have the chance to learn more about the technology. To me, starting a new job a few days before my birthday is the best gift I could ask for.

Vacation in Palm Springs

I will join my friends at Palm Springs, CA, for a few days this month. This will be my first time to Palm Springs. I am very excited. This trip will be my mini get-away from the chilly weather in Seattle. And I can wear the Summer dresses every day!

Manila Blahnik documentary

I love to watch any fashion related documentaries. I found a documentary (on Netflix) on the legendary shoe designer, Manolo Blahnik. The film title is “Manolo The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards”. It’s fascinating to see how his passion for shoes grew since his early childhood, and how his life experience transformed him into one of the world’s most famous shoe designers!

5 Things to Try This Month – October 2017

When I think of October, I think about the changing color of the maple leaves and the chilly weather in Seattle.  These are the clear signs of the arrival of Fall. 

Below are five things I’d like to try this month to help me enjoy the Fall season.

Bake for Fall

I love to bake pumpkin loaf in the Fall. I’ve been having my eyes on the Williams Sonoma’s Nordic Ware Fall Loaf Pan, and I finally bought it last week. I plan to use my new Fall loaf pan to bake different kind of cakes this month.

Sea Urchin Feast

Sea urchin (uni) is one of my favorite seafoods. It tastes especially good when it is freshly opened up. On this past Friday, my friend hosted a uni feast party for our October gathering. We paired the uni with sake, and it was perfect. I plan on hosting a uni feast for my family this weekend.

Add Long Earrings to Wardrobe

Swarovski recently came up with new long crystal earrings. This is the exact earrings I’ve been looking for. This will come handy when I dine out with my friends during the upcoming Seattle restraurant week.

Attending Private Fall Shopping Party

Nordstrom is hosting a private Fall shopping party this month in its local stores. I will be joining my friend for one of these private shopping events at the Nordstrom in Seattle area this Sunday. And we plan to get together for drinks before the event starts.  We are very excited to check out the shopping party!

Experiment with Skin Care Products

My skin tends to get dry in Fall and Winter. To help myself get through this season, I plan to experienment with different kinds of body lotion and ointments to keep my skin moisturized throughout the season.

5 Things to Try This Month – September 2017

September is the beginning of the Fall season. Luckily, there are still a few sunny days left before the chilly weather kicks in. Below are five things that I am trying for September.

New Liquid Lip Colors

Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain is one of the latest beauty products Dior has launched recently. For someone like me, who loves lip color products from Chanel, Dior,and YSL, it’s hard to resist the temptation of getting my hands on the new Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain. Out of the 27 new Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain shades, I bought Impulsive Matte, Spicy Metal, Impetuous Satin, and Rock’n’Metal. I guess these should be plenty for me to use in September.

Black Truffle

My friends and I plan a trip to Las Vegas in the beginning of September. One of our favorite restaurants in Las Vegas is “Sinatra” at the Encore Resort. It’s part of our tradition to try their pasta dish with black or white truffles at the Sinatra restaurant. And I expect our upcoming experience will be as great as always.

Making Paella

While I visited Spain in the past January, I really enjoyed eating paella at different local restaurants. I haven’t found many restaurants in Seattle that offer great paella. My goal for this month is to try to make paella. I just bought a paella pan and I am looking forward to trying it.

Embroidered hats have been very popular in the summer. If you haven’t tried one, it’s not too late to do that for September. Usually, it’s hard for me to find a hat that fits me perfectly, but I found one for my September trip to Las Vegas. Embroidered Beach Hat

Bookstore for Fun

Amazon just opened another brick-and-mortar bookstore in Bellevue, Washington. I had the chance to visit it a few weeks ago. I found a new book that I’d like to read for September. The book is “Thinking Fast and Slow”. It’s a book about behavioral sciences and explains the systems that define how we think and respond at every moment of our daily life. I can’t wait to read the book and find out more about the topics.

5 Things to Try This Month – April 2017

When I think about April, an image of warm and sunny weather immediately comes to my mind. Although I live in Seattle area, where there’s not enough sun for the beginning of Spring, it won’t affect me from participating the things that are happening this month.

Below are my suggestions for what I’d like to try for April.

One of the fashion news items that appeared repeatedly in the past few weeks is the collaboration of Victoria Beckham and Target on a new Spring collection – Victoria Beckham for Target. It will be available for purchase on April 9. I can’t wait to try out some of the dresses in the collection!

New Lip Balm for Everyday Happiness

In my February’s Valentine’s blog post I mentioned Yves Saint Laurent’s new Volupte Tint-in-balm lipstick. It’s a hybrid lipstick that’s made of lip moisturizing ingredients. It provides sheer glowing colors on the lips. The fun part about the lipstick is its lip-shaped heart in the center. I ordered some from Yvest Saint Laurent’s site with free complimentary engraving. I can’t wait to receive them next week!

Stylish Jacket for Early Spring

Although we are already in Spring, I still feel chilly in the early morning in Seattle. If you live in areas that has a similar climate  as me, you can stay warm with a nice wool-blend jacket. Try something like the Coach’s Wool-blend and Leather jacket.

A Book of Your Choice for Self Improvement

I love to read books, especially when they’re related to biography and business. Recently, while I was going through my bookshelf, I found a book I had since Year 2013. I read a couple of chapters back then, but never finished the entire book. The book is “Lean In” by Sheryl Sandberg. It’s a book about women’s behavior in society and work. And how we can overcome the challenges we are facing in our careers and the work environments. My goal for this month is to finish reading this book!

5 Things to Try This Month – March 2017

March is the transition month from Winter to Spring. If you haven’t thought about updating your wardrobe with some light hue silhouette and accessories, it’s time to start!

Green Color Nail Design for St. Patrick’s Day

If you like green, March is a great time to get green nails for the St. Patrick’s Day. For my March gel nail design, I have some green stones on my greenish blue sparkling nails. Not only is it a fun alternative to my usual red nail color, it also prevents me from getting pinched if I forgot to wear green on the St. Patrick’s Day!

I am a big fan of lip glosses. In March, Dior released its new lipstick beauty product, Dior Addict Lacquer Stick. This has a glossy formula; it’s almost like a lip gloss on a lipstick. I ordered it in a few shades and I can’t wait to try them on when I receive them!

As we are transitioning out of the Winter, it’s always a good idea to add a new handbag in a light color for the Spring season. Who says March Madness is for basketball fans only? This time of year, some of my friends would be picking their brackets and anticipating the college basketball games. Although I am not a sport fan, I sometimes join my friends for drinks in the bar and watching some of the games. I won’t be wearing any school logo shirts, but I will be wearing my Kenzo cotton sweatshirts!

Dior Aviator Style Sunglasses

I was in Las Vegas in July. It was very hot and sunny! I brought a pair of sunglasses with me for the trip, but for some reason I felt I needed a new pair for the hot weather.

For me, buying a pair of sunglasses is not easy. No matter what a pair looks like “on the rack”, you can never tell what they’ll look like when they’re on your face until you actually try them on.

I was staying at the Bellagio Hotel, one of my favorite properties in Las Vegas. One afternoon, after Happy Hour at Olives restaurant (where I had a martini), I walked across the promenade hallway to the Dior boutique.

Now, even though aviator style glasses had never really looked good on me, but I had my eyes on Dior Summer 2016 sunglasses that were called Dior Split Sunglasses, where the top and bottom of the lenses are mirrored (but with UV protection) and the center width was tinted.

The Dior Split sunglasses comes in several color (i.e. rose gold toned frame with pink mirrored lenses, gold toned frame with silver lenses, silver toned frame with blue mirrored lenses).  I tried all of them on and, miraculously, the design fitted my face and looked good!


While I was trying on the sunglasses, I was wearing a See by Chloe Sleeveless Drop Waist Dress in black and Roger Vivier Ballerine Chips Stripes Flats in pink/purple with crystals.  And both the dress and the flats match perfectly with the Dior Split sunglasses in rose gold toned frame with pink mirrored lenses.

4th of July Weekend Style, 2016

5 Things To Try This Month – February 2016

It’s hard to believe that we are already into the second month of the year 2016.  It feels like it was just a couple of weeks ago we celebrated New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas with friends.

February is one of my favorite months.  One of the reasons is because many of my friends, my brother and I all have February birthdays.  Also, Valentine’s Day is in February.

Below are some of the things I want to do this month and I hope they will help to inspire you.

Drink the Limited-edition Nespresso Coffee

I am a big fan of Nespresso coffee.  I am always looking out for their limited-edition coffee flavors. Nespresso recently released two limited-edition coffee flavors “Tanim de Chiapas Mexico” and “Umutima wa lake Kivu Rwanda”.   Each of these coffees is packaged in a unique color design in pink or green.  I personally like both flavors, but I highly recommend the pink one.  Why? Because it’s the color of the month of Valentine’s Day!

Read the “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success” Book

I picked up this book while I visited the new Amazon bookstore in Seattle.  The book begins by discussing the two different mindsets for people; fixed vs. growth.  People with a growth mindset are more likely to succeed because of their can-do attitude.  It has been a while since I’ve read any self-help  book.  I think it would be a good start for 2016.
