Summer Disneyland Trip with My Nieces

During my most recent trip to visit my brother’s family in Irvine, California, we went to the Disneyland park.

(A short clip of the “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” fireworks at the Disneyland Park)

Because my brother’s family lives in Orange County, we’ve never considered staying in the Disney hotels when we visit Disneyland. However, this time my brother’s family and I checked-in to the Disney hotel the day prior to our visit to the Disneyland parks and took the advantage of the “Extra Magical Hour” opportunity to get into the parks one hour before they opened to the general public. We also did park hopping between Disneyland and the California Adventure theme parks.

We were at the parks from 7:00am to 10:30 pm, the longest time I’ve ever been in any Disneyland or Disneyworld parks in one day. By the time we got home we were exhausted! (But we had a blast!)

Below are some of the many pictures we took during the trip!

Brunch

Before we checked into our Disney hotel we ate brunch at the Storytellers Café, where my nieces took pictures with the Disney characters.

“The End” of the July Disney Park trip!

Dior Aviator Style Sunglasses

I was in Las Vegas in July. It was very hot and sunny! I brought a pair of sunglasses with me for the trip, but for some reason I felt I needed a new pair for the hot weather.

DiorAviatorStyleSunglasses

For me, buying a pair of sunglasses is not easy. No matter what a pair looks like “on the rack”, you can never tell what they’ll look like when they’re on your face until you actually try them on.

I was staying at the Bellagio Hotel, one of my favorite properties in Las Vegas. One afternoon, after Happy Hour at Olives restaurant (where I had a martini), I walked across the promenade hallway to the Dior boutique.

Now, even though aviator style glasses had never really looked good on me, but I had my eyes on Dior Summer 2016 sunglasses that were called Dior Split Sunglasses, where the top and bottom of the lenses are mirrored (but with UV protection) and the center width was tinted.

The Dior Split sunglasses comes in several color (i.e. rose gold toned frame with pink mirrored lenses, gold toned frame with silver lenses, silver toned frame with blue mirrored lenses).  I tried all of them on and, miraculously, the design fitted my face and looked good!

While I was trying on the sunglasses, I was wearing a See by Chloe Sleeveless Drop Waist Dress in black and Roger Vivier Ballerine Chips Stripes Flats in pink/purple with crystals.  And both the dress and the flats match perfectly with the Dior Split sunglasses in rose gold toned frame with pink mirrored lenses.

So I bought them, and now they’re one of my favorite pair of sunglasses for the summer season!

Roger Vivier Belle Vivier Embellished Satin Ballerinas

Roger Vivier is a designer who is often called the Faberge of footwear. Vivier shoes have been worn by Ava Gardner, the Beatles, and by Queen Elizabeth for her coronation. In other words, Vivier is a classic designer. The signature style of Vivier shoes is a large toe buckle. This feature clearly distinguishes Vivier from other designers.

I recently bought a pair of Vivier embellished satin ballerinas. They were black with sparkly crystal toes and toe-buckle. I think they’d be a perfect match with many styles of dresses. In particular, I can see this pair of Viviers match with a black ruffled, short dress for day or evening event.

The buckle on my Vivier’s is large but a bit subtle because the buckle blends in with the crystals on the toe cap. This makes the Vivier’s a bit different from most other shoes that feature a large buckle.

VivierToeCaps

The ballerina style is very comfortable, and especially nice for events where you might have to be on your feet for several hours.

I’d say that Roger Vivier satin with crystal style is quite close to Manolo shoes with a similar motif. But Vivier high heels shoes tend to be more expensive than Manolo. But Vivier flats are just a bit more expensive than similar Manolo flats.

If you’re not familiar with Roger Vivier shoes, you should check them out! (Available at Mytherasa.com)

Dolce & Gabbana Polka Dot Floral Textured Leather Shoulder Bag

Are you a big fan of polka dots? If you love polka dots as much as I do, you are in luck. There are many clothing items and accessories with polka dots for Spring 2015.

When it comes to polka dots, I usually prefer them on cloth (such as a blouse or a dress) or accessories (such as scarves or jewelry). But this season Dolce & Gabbana launched the Polka Dot Floral Textured Leather should bag. This totally caught my attention when I shopped recently at the Saks Fifth Avenue in Las Vegas.

Dolce & Gabbana’s Polka Dot Floral Textured Leader shoulder bag is not  just an ordinary handbag with polka dots. I love the prints and the mini-trunk-like design. The black dots over the red carnations on the white background leather makes it a classic and stylish bag for Spring.

I think it would look great to pair this bag with strappy leather sandals, such as Manolo Blahnik’s Beaded Leather Sandals. The red stone beads on the shoes will complement the red carnations perfectly.

If you are looking for a unique bag to add to you Spring wardrobe, this Dolce & Gabbana Polka Dot Floral Textured Leader should bag is the ideal one!

Pink is the New Neutral for Spring 2014

What’s your favorite color for Spring 2014? Pastel color is in for the season. The colors in the category include light green, light yellow, light blue, light pink, and light orange. But pink is special, because it goes well with more colors than the other pastels.

For the Spring season, we are seeing a lot of pink from top to bottom. Eye shadow, lipstick and lip gloss, tops, skirts, handbags, and shoes are all making appearances this season. Every year I read about what the “in color” is. This season it looks like pink is the “in color”.

Some people think the color pink is too girly. But in my opinion pink can be classic and elegant, or can be too close to Hello Kitty. For example, a pink lace dress like Adrianna Papell Lace Sheath Dress can be worn to a Spring wedding or Sunday brunch.

Another example of “good pink” would be a pink Valentino Small Rockstud Double Handle Tote. This is the small version of Valentino’s famous Rockstud tote in the new pink color. This bag would be perfect from afternoon to evening.

In short, if you have been avoiding pink because you think it’s too young or immature, I advise you to give pink another look this Spring season.

Louis Vuitton Spring and Summer 2014 Show

A recent exciting event was the debut of the Louis Vuitton women’s Fall and Winter 2014 show, by Nicolas Ghesquière, the new LV Creative Director. While we are enjoying the new season’s show, the collection’s pieces from Louis Vuitton Spring and Summer 2014 are now hitting the stores.

This Louis Vuitton Spring and Summer 2014 collection is the last show designed by Marc Jacobs. I can’t help not to watch the Louis Vuitton Spring and Summer 2014 show for one more time. While I was watching the show, I observed some similarities with previous Louis Vuitton fashion shows by Marc Jacobs.

The runway that the models walked through at the Spring and Summer 2014 show included a fountain, elevators, carousal, clock, escalators, and doors. These elements can be found from the previous season shows (see the images below). Since the Spring and Summer 2014 show is the last one by Marc Jacobs, I am not surprised to see he completed his last Louis Vuitton show with all the unique themes that were presented in the past. See below for some screen shots from Spring and Summer 2014 and previous shows.

To be honest, I wasn’t totally impressed by this Spring and Summer 2014 collection. I fe3lt it was a bit too dark and not lively enough for spring and summer, especially compared to previous year’s Spring and Summer shows. On the other hand, I do admire how Marc Jacobs concluded his final chapter at LV with an echo of previous years.
